Mostly worried about how to capture the last few months of cycling. Have downloaded to Google Earth and think that will be useful to me. Having some certainty about migration to miCoach would be reassuring that this data won't be lost.

Yes. Keep using the Storm with BiM. There will be a migration tool to move over all of your journal to miCoach and then a way to auto save future BiM workouts directly into your miCoach account. This is a stop gap measure until we can provide a miCoach solution for additional Blackberry device models.

Make sure you are carrying the phone where it has a clear view of the sky. Putting it in a pocket or in a backpack could result in very poor GPS reception and inaccurate distance calculations.

BIM will continue to work until the end of the year (estimated) at that time we will need to change over to the new micoach. I just hope that they have it working by then. I have a Storm 2, I am not sure if you can download the app for the storm/storm 2 at this time so as long as you don't have to replace it you should be good to go. (I use mine 4 times a week still)
Hope that helps |

Yea that would be a nice feature if the GPS could identify HILLS and their incline status as I hike a lot and it's elevated activity and I know I burn more calories. Also, my system hasn't been working correctly. I walk a tenth of a mile and the distance is over 2 or 3 miles and my average speed is in the ten thousands!!! So I stop it, discard it try again, same thing. I give up!

The calorie calculations do not take into account changes in elevation at this time.

Has anyone noticed that the estimate of calories is the same per mile whether you're going uphill or downhill? I did that test splitting a round trip up a nearby hill. The uphill walk produced the same calories output as the downhill one. Hmmm... ??

Best wishes to you Jon. I have had good experiences with BIM active and it has served me well while cycling and running (and occasionally hiking as well). Your group was very helpful when I had technical troubles at one point.
I have mixed emotions about the transition to miCoach. My current phone (LG 8300) is not listed so that may be the end of the service for me. I predominately use it for cycling now so that is another challenge. It may be time to just get a Garmin. I also think about your transition from a small company to ownership by a big corporation. I hope that is good for you. I am a fan a Clif bars and like the story where they almost sold themselves but then founder/owner Gary 'walked away.' Best wishes. |

New version was launched with support for the 9000.
Go to http://m.micoach.com/fast in your mobile browser to download miCoach. Migration tools are scheduled to be available to move your data from bimactive.com to miCoach.com by the end of September. |
