Hey John!

I decided to check this one out and there are no posts.  Have you considered doing something with pedometers and steps for walkers.  I am a PE teacher and did an experiment this past year at the school.  I put on a pedometer when I entered the building and recorded my steps on a website called www.peclogit.org.  It is designed for students and teachers to record steps and chart their progress.  I had 25 of my students sign up and it was great.  I wound up walking over 800 miles just being at work last year.  I'm going to do it again this year and thought that keeping track of steps might get you some more business.  I would recommend the site to my students.

Keep up the great work and like I've said before, I love the site!

Erik,
What would we need to do to provide support for pedometers? Add a step entry field? Or does the pedometer provide an accurate distance in miles? Any other requirements you can think of?

John,

A step entry would be good.  Depending on the pedometer one uses would determine if miles were kept or not.  I have basic ones for the kids I teach and they only register steps.  A big kick in the PE world lately is to walk 10000 steps a day which is appox 5 miles.   The one website I use breaks my steps into miles and kilometers walked.

Hope this helps.

I have to say this is pretty slick - just tried it out tonight and the wife
and I went on a little walk that we usually walk on and usually carry
our phones on anyway - we just happened to have some new extra
capability with this service added - and it was even cooler to see that
it's hooked in with my livejournal which I already had anyway - this is
a really neat and fun service..  My wife and I walk a lot but I'm really
a cyclist and to be able to experience this while cycling will be the real
positive test.  I'm especially intrigued with the elevation capability in
addition to the GPS mapping - every cycling computer I've had in the
past could not track this data and now I'll be able to.  Thanks big-time
to BIM!
