Not the Run I had in Mind

My plans for a 10-mile loop around the dish were thwarted when my right knee started screaming at me around mile 1.5. When it hadn’t eased up by mile 3, I decided to be conservative and turn back, but then about a half mile later I could no longer even run on the darn thing and basically walked the rest of the way back. Feels like the pain is stemming from the tendons behind the knee as well as some bone pain in the lower outside quadrant. Grrrrr!

Now I finally have a trail race under my belt. Aside from Mike, everyone I talked to wondered why I chose this hard course for my first. The running was hard, but apparently even harder for me was watching the trail markers (I accidentally veered off course twice... adding unnecessary mileage and climb!). Amazing views and nice folks to run with made it a great morning nonetheless.
