This was the most fun I have had at any race. I participated in the Guiness Challenge, which included drinking 3 12oz glasses of Guiness during the race. Definitely a blast, and a must-do race from now on. Activity

Well, I hadn't really been specifically training for the Tulsa Run this year, but I had it in the back of my mind. From the quote in the Tulsa World on the day after the race: "You couldn't have picked a better day out of a bucket." Perfect weather and I felt great. I could have pushed harder, but the entire race felt good, and I had reserves at the end to sprint into the finish. This was my favorite race that I have ever done. Activity

First run after the half-marathon, and it is time to start cutting those 5k times. I started to do a little bit of speed training in there to liven things up. I'm out to have fun now, but I think I will still do my long runs once a week. It is a great feeling to get out there and run for an hour or two. Activity

Great run, I had a blast. We were doing great until about mile 9 when my running partner started becoming dehydrated. We started walking more frequently and for longer periods of time so they could cool off and try and hydrate. My first half-marathon was somewhat anti-climatic since I didn't get to run even at my training pace. I was expecting to run closer to a 10:30/mile or even a 10:00/mile, but it was warm, and if you haven't been training in the heat then would would be hurting. I was also somewhat frustrated that my running partner did not take this half-marathon as seriously as I did. I was in training doing long run every week for the past 2 months. My partner did 1 long run of 10 miles and suffered through it about 2 weeks before the half, and then wondered why they were not prepared to run it. Oh well, it may be the first, but it won't be the last. Activity

Good run, nice and hot. My son started the Garmin back up when we got home, so the map and times are off, but I came in at a nice 9:30 pace. One more run until the half marathon...I'm ready to go, and I'm looking forward to it. Activity

Great run this morning. It was cooler than the past few runs, with a little bit of a breeze as well. I am tapering down for the half-marathon on the 16th, so no more long runs for me. Kept a nice pace, and felt good. Not much else to say! Activity

Fun little run tonight. My brother was in town and we went out and had some delicious BBQ for dinner. BBQ does not sit well on the stomach for me, and I was having some discomfort during the run. I was fine afterwards, but I wish I had a Tums during the run. The first run after a long run always seems a little tougher, probably because your legs want to pay you back for making them run for 12 miles 2 days ago. Activity

wow...that is a long way. The humidity is definitely creeping up the closer we get to summer. I was sick a couple of days late last week, and I missed a couple of runs because of it, and I think that affected me as well. It felt good the first 7 miles, then the rest were tough. I drank about 20oz of Gatorade through the first 8 miles, then another 16oz of water. I don't think that it was enough, and I should have hydrated more yesterday as well. Live and learn. Late this week I will do a tapered long run because the 1/2 marathon is on the 16th and I don't want to overdo it the week before. Activity

So no long run today; yesterday my wife had me come home from work because she wasn't feeling well and she needed help watching the kiddo. Last night I started getting the same symptoms she had and I am still not feeling well. If I would have felt well enough to go, I would have been in the middle of a massive thunderstorm that moved into the area about the time I would have left, and since there was plenty of lightning, I wouldn't have gone anyway.
So, I will try and push the long run to Monday and see how that goes.
Ok, so I skipped my Monday run because of Memorial day. I had to run today, but I also had to mow the yard. I finished mowing the yard at 9:00pm, downed a pint of water, and went running at 10:00pm. The water is probably what caused my nice side cramps that forced me to stop about 2 miles into the run and walk for a while. It only gets warmer and more humid the closer we get to summer, even the night runs are starting to be stifiling. Activity

What better way to train then running to Taco Bueno. My wife and I had decided to go to Bueno for dinner; I needed 3 miles, and Bueno happened to be almost exactly 5k away. So I threw on my running atire and hit the road. My wife met me about 2 miles into it with some water and then I ran to Bueno. Activity
